Understand the firewall system

 

There are two different kinds of firewall systems available for your PC; a software firewall that is loaded onto your computer and a hardware firewall. As a matter of fact, both types are all softwares, but the hardware one is a dedicated firewall appliance, whose only job is to perform firewall functionality. A very good of a hardware firewall, is that if you happen to install some sort of malware or virus on your system, it cannot take over your firewall.

 

Understand the nature of hackers

 

They will do it for any reason – even for sport! You must keep your firewall up at all times because these hackers will use any loophole to get into your system and install malicious scripts. They enter through a number of ways – back door scripts, hacking through Trojan horses, going in through your FTP software and many more.

 

Understand your software

 

You can’t just rely on Anti-virus software alone. The function of the An Anti-virus is to clean up the problems or act as a cure to the symptoms – which might already be too late. The only way you can ensure no malicious programs get in is to activate your firewall first.

 

Data back up

 

Always back up your own data on your hard drive – preferably an external one. It is a safety complement to your firewall in case you need to back up, especially the firewall parameters.

 

Due diligence must be taken if one if to focus on solutions and keeping the bad files out.
